ten things i am currently obsessed with.

  1. A good martini.

Just wow. I have recently come to love a good martini, in which let me PUT YOU ON. Trader Joe’s has these amazing lemon stuffed olives that have the perfect juice for a martini, I could seriously drink it straight.

2. Trader Joe’s Lemon Stuffed Olives.

These have seriously become a staple in my eating recently. They are perfect for a little snack, or to dress up on a charcuterie board. They are SO yummy.

3. Chrome Nail Polish.

While I think the trend is over, I think it is such a beautiful way to jazz up your outfits. I work with my hands, and have never gotten more compliments on my nails since I started doing the chrome back in November of 2024.

4. Motel rooms from the 60s.

Okay, so I know this one is a bit strange but hear me out. I am in a production design class, in which we design sets for films. One of our projects recently is to design a motel room, and what better look than the 60s. The patterned carpets, the wallpapered walls, the geometric headboards. It all gives such a sultry atmosphere. Everything is so rich in a deep red color as well (which is one of my favorite colors so I think that is why it sparks my eye so much).

5. Coconut water.

This has been such a staple for me since I arrived at college. Prior to starting college, I was never a fan of coconut, but have learned to LOVE the taste of two specific brands. My all time favorite and my go to is Harmless Harvest. I have been on this train for a while, since they only made coconut water and now they have branched out to making other yummy coconut products. On top of this, their mission is very good as well. They strive to create a natural demand for sustainable farming, and better business practices, in which they have become much more mindful of their production. My second go-to is CocoJoy, in which they prioritize sustainability in their business plan as well.

6. My Job.

I could go on and on about how much I love my job, which I do a lot of the time. I currently work at a small jewelry company known as Amanda Deer Jewelry. Not to be biased, but I ADORE our pieces. Along with this, the workplace culture is simply the best I have experienced in my life. Being a college student, I was very worried about being stressed out and not feeling supported, but they have offered me so much support and kindness during this transitional period of my life. I have met some of the coolest and most influential women through this job and I hope to be like them one day. I am about to hit my one year mark and want to stay quite literally forever.

7. White articles of clothing.

This one also probably seems very strange, but if you know me, you know why I am putting this here. As a woman of color, that being a very unique shade of brown, it is always very hard to find undergarments that match my skin tone. Not only this, but if they do not match my skin tone, you are still able to see it as my skin tone is different than the undergarment, causing a visual contrast. Prior to 2025 I NEVER wore white, and I mean never. Well, twice that I can remember. Once for when I got confirmed into my church when I was twelve, and once at my high school graduation. Other than these two situations I decided to steer clear of the color, just because I did not want to go through the hassle of finding something to wear underneath. Since both of these instances of me wearing white, my body has changes, a lot. I have definitely become more confident in myself, which has helped me to branch out in my clothing decisions. My roommate let me borrow a white top on our first day of school in a recent semester, and since then I have found a new passion for how the color looks on me. This is how I know I am becoming an adult…

8. Baking.

Recently I have rediscovered my love for baking. I have had a realization that I have no hobbies to fill up my down time, which I do not have much of recently. It used to be such fun thing for me to do as a child. I would go into the kitchen and just cook up something with whatever ingredients I could find. So, I got back on the journey of creating fun desserts. My current favorite is a brown butter matcha chocolate chunk cookie topped with flaky sea salt, it has been a hit among my guests. I hope to continue and perfect my skills, if anyone has any fun recipes feel free to send them my way!

9. Writing.

This one is very simple. And I don’t mean writing here on substack, I mean writing for myself. I started to keep a journal and write down my thoughts on paper. I started to think deeply about my feelings and turn those into beautiful pictures with colored pens. I learned that it is something I truly enjoy. I enjoy dissecting and rereading things that I have felt in the past, I enjoy seeing my growth as a person. It has opened my mind to many things. I encourage everyone to start writing for themselves, it is one of the most freeing things ever.

10. Myself.

Yea… this one definitely seems very out there. But it is not in the way that you think. I have realized that I need to start pouring all of the energy and time that I pour into others, into myself. Recently I have felt as if something has been missing from my life, in which I would love to fill that gap on my own. I am striving to love myself more than I ever have before, and I encourage everyone to try the same. It has only been four days, but I can already tell a true difference in the way I feel. Pour into yourself.
